Alluma Tech salutes its key brand customers for their contributions in keeping it green for the environment by purchasing Low Mercury Neon Signs in 2010. These leading beverage industry brands include the big major brewing companies as well as import brands and upcoming regional/craft brewers.

“We wanted to salute our customers who encouraged all neon suppliers to research and develop better environmental alternatives for their POP marketing materials”

Alluma Tech’s low mercury neon tubes now have 60% to 80% less mercury than conventional neon tubes. The new neon process also results in more efficient energy consumption with a 10% reduction in electrical current used over conventional neon signs. The company introduced Low Mercury Neon last year in all of its 2010 production and continues for 100% of production moving forward.

“We wanted to salute our customers who encouraged all neon suppliers to research and develop better environmental alternatives for their POP marketing materials,” said Mike Nissen, President of Alluma Tech. “This is a very important first step in our continuing development to lead the neon lighting category in going green. It parallels the advancements in commercial lighting for Fluorescent tubes and CFL bulbs.”

“When advertisers purchase Low Mercury Neons it is winning for both the brand and the retailer’s electrical bill. Low Mercury Neons are now possible for all national markets and not just the few restricted states,” said Ray Starsiak, Executive V.P. of Alluma Tech. “Other suppliers offer Low Mercury as a premium priced option. We trust that Neon Tech’s leadership in this initiative serves as incentive for everyone to update and convert all their production to the new reduced levels. It can be done.”

Alluma Tech introduces the Lite Tech LED brand as a now viable alternative for High Impact Visual Branding.

Neon has traditionally been recognized as the premier choice in high impact visual POP branding. Over the last two decades LED made inroads as an alternative lighting source. In the developmental stages LED was a step down in illumination to incandescent, fluorescent and neon. New LED technologies today are now more viable options for commercial and residential lighting. Those markets are driven by mega production opportunities. LED’s specific use for High Impact Visual branding had drawbacks because of more custom/less generic and lower volume use.
The Lite Tech focus on LED Visual Branding is driven by changing the negative aspects about POP LED signs to workable solutions. Negative aspects were;

1. Brightness (achieved only by maximum powering causing heat)
2. Tooling restrictions (lead-time and cost)
3. Large quantity run affordability (cost effective at several thousand quantity)
4. Size limitations (restricted by IJ-tool costs)
5. Short brightness life span (premature fade in 12 to 24 months)

Light Tech has changed these negative aspects respectively with advancements in LED technology specific to high impact visual branding;

1. Brightness is achieved by using the same phosphors as conventional neon and taking full advantage of the UV light spectrum emitted by LED’s.
2. The face and chassis is constructed of rigid CNC sculpted and fabricated materials that look virtually like injection molded parts. This cuts out tooling lead-time and tool cost amortization.
3. Because of CNC automated part fabrication (including circuit board) Lite Tech LED signs can be made for smaller regional markets or sponsorship programs. They are cost competitive in a 100 quantity as well as a 10,000 quantity.
4. Injection molded tooling is cost prohibitive in dominator size LED signs. The CNC construction allows for signs from 48’ to 72” sizes.
5. Lite Tech has found heat to be the number one cause of short life LED signs. Green board and wave soldering is typical in electronics construction and cause a lot of heat to build. Lite Tech uses a white board and point to point soldering to help dissipate heat on the PC board. One tenth watt (.01) LED’s are powered at 70% to increase life.

QUOTES:

• The newly patented technologies allow our clients to consider LED signs as an option for small and moderate budget projects.
• The new Lite Tech plant offshore is totally integrated to allow for fast responsive service to critical delivery times. Lite Tech makes the electronic board assemblies, transformers and chassis in addition to the graphic decoration. We ship out of Oceanside, CA four to six weeks sooner than the typical LED sign lead-time.
• Alluma Tech demonstrated Lite Tech LED simulated neon side-by-side with neon at Global shop this year. Attendees were surprised at the comparison and could not tell the difference. It has a lot to do with using the same phosphors as neon.
• In comparison to neon, the big wins with Lite Tech LED as an alternative for the POP market are; just as bright, lasts as long, substantial energy savings and they costs less to deploy.

The Lite Tech brand LED product line is manufactured by Rocus Corporation that also makes Neon Tech neons. Both product lines are marketed through Alluma Tech, dba Neon Tech.

Alluma Tech, a leading illuminated sign and visual branding company, announced that it has received a Best of Industry Award for its Negra Modelo LED sign at the recent POPAI 2009 OMA Awards. It was the second year in a row that Alluma Tech won a POPAI Award for its line of energy efficient Lite Tech products.

POPAI’s Outstanding Merchandising Achievement Awards recognize the most innovative and effective marketing at-retail displays and programs which lift sales and make products memorable and enticing to consumers.

“We are very pleased about winning this recognition from the industry,” said Jenny McDaniel, Modelo Brands Merchandising Manager. “We are excited to be supporting the Model Brand with a new generation of energy efficient branded point of purchase.”

“Alluma Tech was very pleased about winning this award for Negra Modelo,” said Mike Nissen, President. “Our objective was to create a sign that was an alternative to neon but still have great visual impact and clearly communicate that Negra Modelo was available on premise. We are really proud that our energy efficient Lite Tech products won another award at POPAI. This is a win-win product providing both illuminated promotional impact while also saving costs in distribution and energy,” noted Nissen.

Alluma Tech’s line of Lite Tech LED products are designed to provide neon illumination values at dramatically lower field placement costs. The Lite Tech designs offer a low profile illuminated sign that replaces old fluorescent illumination at a brightness that can match neon. As a “GREEN alternative” product it offers an energy savings of 40% to 50%. Packaging and distribution costs are also reduced dramatically for the most environmentally friendly sign option in the marketplace.

“We are very proud of the recent advancements in our line of LED signs,” said Ray Starsiak, Executive Vice President of Alluma Tech. “The Lite Tech signs offer a variety of graphic possibilities other than a neon look. The Negra Modelo sign features a convex metallic background with laser cut graphics. The illuminated colors glow brighter using phosphor inks. Laser cutting provides a sharp graphic label replication,” added Starsiak.

About Alluma Tech

Alluma Tech was founded by Mike Nissen and Ray Starsiak, two well known industry veterans with a long history of pioneering technological innovation in the signage category.

FRANKLIN, Wis. — Alluma Tech, the industry leader in all illuminated technologies for displays, POP, and other merchandising activities, recently announced that its Rocus USA Manufacturing Group has opened a new state of the art LED sign production facility in WuJong, China. It will manufacture the entire Lite Tech line of energy efficient LED products.

The new facility demonstrates Alluma Tech’s future commitment to a new generation of Point of Purchase signage and other upcoming market innovations with LED technology.

The new facility consists of multiple buildings that span over 300,000 square feet on one campus. The layout accommodates all stages of production, vertically integrated from the LED diode through all component parts and into overseas bulk shipping. Final UL electrical assembly, packing and shipping takes place at the 40,000-square-foot Rocus USA plant in Oceanside, CA. “This will result in a new standard for industry leading quality assurance,” noted Mike Nissen, President of Alluma Tech.

The LED plant equipment includes CNC PC Board assembly, precision laser cutting for plastics and metal, precision vacuum thermoforming, automatic screen printing, and six lines of LED sign assembly. The equipment is flexible to make both standard size signs as well as dominator LED signs ten feet long. The capacity is over 150,000 signs per year.

“We are very excited about our new production facility and the new innovation, quality control and environmental benefits it will provide our customers,” said David Chiang, Chairman of Rocus USA.

Alluma Tech’s line of Lite Tech LED products provide illuminated features at dramatically lower costs. The Lite Tech designs offer the lowest profile illuminated sign and replaces old fluorescent illumination at a brightness level to match and exceed.

“There are many claims of LED products achieving as bright as neon illumination,” added Ray Starsiak, Executive Vice President of Alluma Tech. “They will last at that level of brightness for 6 to 12 to 18 months. Our clients expectation is for LED signs to stay bright as long as fluorescent and neon illuminated signs. David Chiang’s research and development of this product line focused on sustainable brightness. The roots of this technology draft off Mr. Chiang’s accomplishments in more efficient power transforming and mixing neon tube phosphors with screening ink to increase brightness.”

As a “GREEN alternative” Lite Tech LED products offer an energy savings of 40 to 50%. Packaging and distribution costs distribution costs are also reduced dramatically for the most environmentally friendly sign option in the marketplace.

“Our philosophy at Alluma Tech has always been to lead the industry on a foundation of production leadership and our new production facility will keep Alluma Tech at the forefront of industry leadership in the manufacturing process,” said Mike Nissen, President of Alluma Tech.

Crown Royal Wins Gold Award at Popai OMA Awards

Franklin, WI. May 6th, 2008- Alluma Tech,www.allumatech.com announced that it has received a Gold Award for its Crown Royal LED sign at the recent Popai, 2008 OMA Awards. It was the first Gold award for Alluma Tech’s new line of energy efficient Lite Tech products.

POPAI’s Outstanding Merchandising Achievement Awards recognizes the most innovative and effective marketing at-retail displays and programs which lift sales and make products memorable and enticing to consumers. The annual competition celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

The Crown Royal sign was developed for Integrated Merchandising Systems www.imsfastpak.com which is a leading merchandising service agency that provides point of sale services for Crown Royal.

“The Brand Group for Integrated Merchandising Systems was very excited about winning this award for Crown Royal,” said Lanny Lancaster, Vice President National Accounts with Alluma Tech. “They said when they first saw the unit that it was an award winner. Our objective was to create a sign that was an alternative to neon but still had great visual impact and would clearly communicate that Crown Royal was available. The sign with the crown on pillow gives the appearance of a more distinguished piece of POS instead of everyday neon or backlit signs,” said Lancaster.

Alluma Tech’s line of Lite Tech LED products provide excellent lighting features at dramatically lower field placement costs.

“LED’s have been around in various applications for years but they had drawbacks for POP signs,” said Ray Starsiak, Executive Vice President of Alluma Tech. “To achieve brightness, LED’s are often overpowered leading to short life and dim out. The new Lite Tech product line developments offer a custom built transformer that adjusts to match the series of LED’s for maximum brightness without overpowering. In addition, neon glass phosphors are used to enhance the screening inks to bring up light levels to match neon illumination for a brighter and longer lasting sign,” added Starsiak.

“We are really proud that our energy efficient Lite Tech product won a gold award. I think it demonstrates that this is a win-win product providing both excellent promotional support for a client while also saving energy,” said Mike Nissen, President of Alluma Tech.
